Portfolio Management

Henderson Rowe’s approach to portfolio management is driven by the view that many fund managers tend to place too much emphasis on pure long-only diversification. This has two weaknesses:

Although this standard approach is sold as a defence against bear markets, it is precisely in these downturns that diversification ceases to protect effectively.
The long-only manager’s principal strategy is to wait for the market to rise, regardless of market conditions.

More important, in our view, are entry and stop disciplines, trend and value analysis, and money management. We regard cash as a market position, and incorporate a trading system approach in the way we manage our clients’ funds.

Each portfolio reflects each individual client’s personal performance targets, risk requirements and time horizons.
